O radiant lady, who are you—of the gods or the asuras, of the nāgas, gandharvas, or rākṣasas, or of the yakṣas or kinnaras?

Dharma as prudent discernment: Hanumān seeks truthful identification, recognizing the moral necessity of certainty before acting in an enemy domain.
Hanumān, struck by Sītā’s radiance and distress, considers whether she might be a divine or otherworldly being and asks her directly.
Caution guided by reason—Hanumān’s investigative mindset in service of Rāma’s mission.
