सीताविलापः — Sita’s Lament and Prophecy of Lanka’s Ruin
साहं त्यक्ता प्रियार्हेण रामेण विदितात्मना।।।।प्राणांस्त्यक्ष्यामि पापस्य रावणस्य गता वशम्।
sāhaṃ tyaktā priyārheṇa rāmeṇa viditātmanā | prāṇāṃs tyakṣyāmi pāpasya rāvaṇasya gatā vaśam ||
Abandoned by Rāma—wise in self-knowledge and worthy of all that is dear—I, having fallen into the power of the sinful Rāvaṇa, will now give up my life.
"Separated from the wise Rama who deserves pleasant things I will give up life being under the clutches of the sinful Ravana.ইত্যার্ষে শ্রীমদ্রামাযণে বাল্মীকীয আদিকাব্যে সুন্দরকাণ্ডে ষডিবংশ স্সর্গঃ৷Thus ends the twentysixth sarga of Sundarakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Sītā’s fidelity to dharma is expressed as unwavering loyalty to her lawful husband and refusal to accept adharma (Rāvaṇa’s coercion). Her willingness to renounce life underscores that moral integrity is valued above bodily survival.
In Aśoka-vana, Sītā, held captive and threatened, laments separation from Rāma and voices despair, saying she cannot endure being under Rāvaṇa’s control.
Steadfast chastity and moral firmness (pativratā-niṣṭhā), along with truthfulness and inner resolve in the face of intimidation.
