सीताविलापः — Sita’s Lament and Prophecy of Lanka’s Ruin
नूनं राक्षसकन्यानां रुदन्तीनां गृहे गृहे।श्रोष्यामि नचिरादेव दुःखार्तानामिह ध्वनिम्।।।।
nūnaṃ rākṣasakanyānāṃ rudantīnāṃ gṛhe gṛhe |
śroṣyāmi nacirādeva duḥkhārtānām iha dhvanim ||
Surely, before long I shall hear here—in house after house—the cries of the rākṣasa maidens, weeping in anguish.
"I shall surely hear very soon sounds of distressful cry of young ogresses in every household.
Collective complicity in adharma spreads suffering beyond the principal offender; households share the consequences of unjust aggression.
Sītā anticipates the grief that will soon fill Laṅkā’s homes as the rākṣasas face destruction.
Steadfast hope joined with moral certainty: Sītā endures present sorrow while remaining sure of dharma’s victory.
