Shloka 5.20.19

रावणस्य सीताप्रलोभनम् (Ravana’s Persuasion and Coercive Courtship of Sita)

नेह पश्यामि लोकेऽन्यं यो मे प्रतिबलो भवेत्।पश्य मे सुमहद्वीर्यमप्रतिद्वन्द्वमाहवे।।5.20.19।।

neha paśyāmi loke 'nyaṃ yo me pratibalo bhavet |

paśya me sumahad vīryam apratidvandvam āhave || 5.20.19 ||

Here in this world I see none other who could match my strength. Behold my vast prowess—unrivalled in battle.

"I'm unrivalled in this entire world. Behold my matchless virility which permits no rivalin war.

The verse showcases pride and intimidation as persuasive tactics. Dharma warns that arrogance (mada) blinds judgment; true strength is aligned with righteousness, not used to threaten or dominate.

Rāvaṇa asserts his invincibility to overawe Sītā, implying resistance is futile because no rival can defeat him.

Sītā’s courage and unwavering truthfulness are emphasized—she does not concede to intimidation, maintaining dharma despite fear-inducing claims.
