सीताव्यथा-वर्णनम् / Sītā’s Distress and Rāvaṇa’s Attempt at Coercive Allurement

दशग्रीवस्तु वैदेहीं रक्षितां राक्षसीगणैः।ददर्श सीतां दुःखार्तां नावं सन्नामिवार्णवे।।।।

śuṣyantīṃ rudatīm ekāṃ dhyānaśokaparāyaṇām |

duḥkhasyāntam apaśyantīṃ rāmāṃ rāmam anuvratām ||

She was wasting away—alone, weeping, absorbed in thought and sorrow—seeing no end to her grief, faithful only to Rāma.

The ten-necked Ravana, too, on his part saw Sita, tormented with grief, guarded by the she-demons like a boat sunk in the sea.

Sītā

Rāma

Dharma here is unwavering fidelity to truth (satya) and rightful relationship, maintained even when sorrow appears endless.

The narration dwells on Sītā’s isolation and grief in Laṅkā as Rāvaṇa’s pressure looms.

Pativratā-dharma / ananyatā (exclusive faithfulness) toward Rāma.
