षोडशः सर्गः (Sarga 16): Hanumān’s Recognition of Sītā and Renewed Lament
खरश्च निहतसङ्ख्ये त्रिशिराश्च निपातितः।दूषणश्च महातेजा रामेण विदितात्मना।।5.16.10।।
kharaś ca nihata-saṅkhye triśirāś ca nipātitaḥ |
dūṣaṇaś ca mahātejā rāmeṇa viditātmanā ||5.16.10||
In battle Khara was destroyed, Triśiras was struck down, and the mighty Dūṣaṇa too—by Rāma, self-knowing and steadfast in true discernment.
"Ogres like Khara and Trisira and the powerful Dooshana were kileed in battle by Rama endowed with self-knowledge.
Dharma is the rightful destruction of oppressive violence: Rāma’s battle is framed as morally grounded power—force guided by self-mastery and discernment rather than rage.
Hanumān recalls Rāma’s past victories over major rākṣasas to reassure himself of Rāma’s capability and righteous strength.
Rāma’s self-knowledge and controlled heroism—power exercised under ethical restraint.
