रावणान्तःपुर-पानभूमि-विचयः (Hanumān’s Survey of Rāvaṇa’s Inner Palace and Banquet Hall)
बहुप्रकारैर्विविधैर्वरसंस्कारसंस्कृतैः।मांसैः कुशलसम्पृक्तैः पानभूमिगतैः पृथक्।।5.11.19।।
bahuprakārair vividhair varasaṁskārasaṁskṛtaiḥ | māṁsaiḥ kuśalasampṛktaiḥ pānabhūmigataiḥ pṛthak ||5.11.19||
There in the banquet hall, meats of many kinds were set out separately—prepared in numerous ways, refined with choice seasonings, and cooked by skilled hands.
In the banquet hall there were many types of meat arranged in a number of ways. They were cooked by experts by seasoning them with choicest ingredients.
Dharma here is conveyed through contrast: technical excellence and abundance do not equal righteousness. The epic repeatedly distinguishes cultural sophistication from moral virtue.
Hanumān continues to observe the spread of foods in the banquet hall as part of his careful exploration of Rāvaṇa’s palace complex.
Mission-focus and restraint: Hanumān remains unaffected by pleasures that could distract a less disciplined agent.
