समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing
प्रविशन्नभ्रजालानि निष्पतंश्च पुनः पुनः।प्रच्छन्नश्च प्रकाशश्च चन्द्रमा इव लक्ष्यते।।।।
praviśann abhrajālāni niṣpataṃś ca punaḥ punaḥ |
pracchannaś ca prakāśaś ca candramā iva lakṣyate ||
Entering the lattices of cloud and bursting out again and again, he appeared—now veiled, now radiant—like the moon amid drifting cloud-banks.
Entering into and emerging from the clouds, he looked like the Moon that appears and disappears (behind a bank of clouds).
Dharma is shown as unwavering progress despite obstacles: concealment and revelation symbolize how a righteous agent continues forward even when circumstances alternately obscure and support him.
Hanumān’s flight is described poetically as he passes in and out of cloud formations over the sea.
Dhṛti (fortitude): steady movement through changing conditions.
