समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing
मेरुमन्दरसङ्काशानुद्धतान् स महार्णवे।अत्यक्रामन्महावेगस्तरङ्गान् गणयन्निव।।।।
merumandarasaṅkāśān uddhatān sa mahārṇave | atyakrāman mahāvegas taraṅgān gaṇayann iva ||
Rushing with immense speed over the great ocean, he overleapt the towering waves—risen high like Meru and Mandara—as though he were counting them.
Hanuman moving along in high speed looked as if he was counting the mighty waves risen ike Meru and Mandara mountains.
Dharma here is steadfast performance of duty: Hanumān does not pause before obstacles, but proceeds with disciplined resolve to accomplish Rāma’s mission.
Hanumān is in mid-flight over the ocean, advancing toward Laṅkā; the poet depicts the sea’s massive waves and his effortless crossing.
Vīrya and niścaya (heroic power and determination): he maintains speed and focus, treating even immense waves as mere countable steps.
