समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing
इति सञ्चिन्त्य मनसा छायामस्य समाक्षिपत्।छायायां गृह्यमाणायां चिन्तयामास वानरः।।।।
iti sañcintya manasā chāyām asya samākṣipat |
chāyāyāṃ gṛhyamāṇāyāṃ cintayāmāsa vānaraḥ ||
Having thought thus, she seized his shadow; and when his shadow was being held, the vānara Hanuman began to deliberate.
Thinking thus, she dragged him by his shadow before she took hold of him, Hanuman started deliberating within.
Dharma includes viveka (discernment): when obstructed, a righteous agent pauses to assess and choose proportionate action rather than reacting blindly.
Simhika uses her power to catch Hanuman by his shadow, slowing or arresting his movement; Hanuman realizes something is wrong and thinks strategically.
Buddhi (intelligent judgment): Hanuman’s first response is analysis, not panic.
