समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing
स तमुच्छ्र्रतमत्यर्थं महावेगो महाकपिः।।।।उरसा पातयामास जीमूतमिव मारुतः।
sa tam ucchritam atyarthaṁ mahāvego mahākapiḥ | urasā pātayāmāsa jīmūtam iva mārutaḥ ||
The great monkey, swift beyond measure, struck down that mountain as it rose before him—pressing it with his chest, as the wind drives down a mass of cloud.
The great vanara,who was swift in action felled down the mountain that had risen high instantly with his chest just as the wind would strike a cloud.
Steadfastness in duty: Hanumān does not allow even a well-intentioned obstacle to divert him from his righteous mission undertaken for Rāma.
As Hanumān flies over the ocean toward Laṅkā, the mountain (Maināka) rises up before him; Hanumān forcefully presses it down to continue his flight.
Vīrya and niścaya (heroic power and firm resolve): decisive action without hesitation in pursuit of a higher purpose.
