वालि–मायावी–बिलप्रवेशः (Vali’s Pursuit of Mayavi and the Cave Episode)
मायावी नाम तेजस्वी पूर्वजो दुन्दुभेः सुतः।तेन तस्य महद्वैरं स्त्रीकृतं विश्श्रुतं पुरा4.9.4।।
sa tu vai nissṛtaḥ krodhāt taṃ hantum asurottamam | vāryamāṇas tata strībhiḥ mayā ca praṇatātmanā || 4.9.7 ||
In anger he came out to slay that foremost demon, even as the women and I—submissive in spirit—tried to restrain him.
'Dundubhi's eldest son Mayabi was a mighty demon. He developed bitter enmity with Vali for the sake of a woman.
Dharma includes self-control and heeding restraint; anger-driven action can ignore wise counsel and lead to harm.
Vālī rushes out in fury to kill Māyāvī, despite attempts by Sugrīva and the women to stop him.
Sugrīva’s deference and concern are emphasized; the verse also contrasts this with Vālī’s anger.
