न ह्यकृत्वा हरिपतेस्सन्देशं तस्य धीमतः।तत्रापि गत्वा प्राणानां पश्यामि परिरक्षणम्।।।।

Transliteration

yadi nāhaṃ gamiṣyāmi nānyo vānarapuṅgavaḥ |

punaḥ khalv idam asmābhiḥ kāryaṃ prāyopaveśanam ||

Translation

If I do not go—and if no other monkey-chief goes—then indeed we must again resort to prāyopaveśana, the sacred fast unto death.

'If I do not fulfil the objective of the wise king of monkeys I cannot save my life even after returning there (Kishkinda).
