अङ्गदोपदेशः समुद्रदर्शन-विषादश्च (Angada’s Counsel and the Vanaras’ Despondency at the Ocean)
दक्षिणस्य समुद्रस्य समासाद्योत्तरां दिशम्।सन्निवेशं ततश्चक्रुर्हरिवीरा महाबलाः।।।।
viṣaṇṇāṃ vāhinīṃ dṛṣṭvā sāgarasya nirīkṣaṇāt |
āśvāsayāmāsa harīn bhayārtān harisattamaḥ ||
Seeing the host downcast from gazing upon the ocean, Angada—the foremost of the vānaras—encouraged the troops who were distressed by fear.
Powerful and heroic monkeys assembled at the northern end of the southern ocean.
Dharma in leadership: when a community is shaken, a responsible leader steadies them with reassurance and restores commitment to the righteous objective.
The vānaras are frightened and demoralized by the ocean; Angada steps in to raise morale.
Protective leadership (rakṣaṇa-bhāva) and compassion—strength expressed as encouragement, not anger.
