सम्पाति–अङ्गदसंवादः / Sampati and Angada: Genealogy, Jatayu, and the Search Vow

बभूवर्क्षरजा नाम वानरेन्द्रः प्रतापवान्।ममार्यः पार्थिवः पक्षिन् धार्मिक स्तस्य चात्मजौ।।।सुग्रीवश्चैव वाली च पुत्रावोघबलावुभौ।लोकेविश्रुतकर्माभूद्राजा वाली पिता मम।।।।

babhūv ṛkṣarajā nāma vānarendraḥ pratāpavān |

mamāryaḥ pārthivaḥ pakṣin dhārmikas tasya cātmajau ||

sugrīvaś caiva vālī ca putrāv oghabalāv ubhau |

loke viśrutakarmābhūd rājā vālī pitā mama ||

O bird, my revered forebear was the mighty Vānara-king named Ṛkṣaraja, a righteous ruler established in dharma. He had two sons—Sugrīva and Vālī—both of immense strength. My father, King Vālī, became renowned in the world for his great deeds.

'O powerful bird! my revered grandfather Riksharaja was a glorious king of monkeys. He had two sons called Sugriva and Vali.Both were strong like flood-waters. My father Vali was well-known in this world for his remarkable deeds.
