अङ्गदस्य प्रायोपवेशननिश्चयः (Angada’s Resolve to Fast unto Death)
सत्यात्पाणिगृहीतश्च कृतकर्मा महायशाः।विस्मृतो राघवो येन स कस्य तु कृतं स्मरेत्।।।।
satyātpāṇigṛhītaśca kṛtakarmā mahāyaśāḥ | vismṛto rāghavo yena sa kasya tu kṛtaṃ smaret ||
The illustrious Raghava, who faithfully held his hand in friendship and accomplished his task, has been forgotten by him. Indeed, whose help would he ever remember?
'Illustrious Rama, who faithfully held his hand was forgotten after he received his help. Indeed whose help would he remember?
The verse refers to Sugriva, the King of Vanaras, who is criticized by Angada for forgetting Rama's help after his own objectives were achieved.
It refers to the sacred pact of friendship made before the fire where Rama and Sugriva held hands, promising mutual assistance.
