Shloka 4.54.18

अङ्गद-उपदेशः — Hanuman’s Counsel to Angada on Succession and Strategy

स त्वं हीनस्सुहृद्भिश्च हितकामैश्च बन्धुभिः।तृणादपि भृशोद्विग्नस्स्पन्दमानाद्भविष्यसि।।।।

sa tvaṃ hīnaḥ suhṛdbhiś ca hitakāmaiś ca bandhubhiḥ |

tṛṇād api bhṛśodvignaḥ spandamānād bhaviṣyasi || 4.54.18 ||

Then you, bereft of friends and well-wishing kinsmen, will become exceedingly fearful—startled even by the quiver of a blade of grass.

'Left out of your friends and relatives,who are your well-wishers, you will be very frightened even by the trembling of a blade of grass.

Dharma is sustained through right association and counsel; isolation from well-wishers leads to fear and instability, weakening one’s capacity to uphold duty.

Aṅgada is warned of the personal cost of being deserted—loss of support will make him anxious and vulnerable.

Valuing wise companionship—accepting guidance and maintaining bonds that enable steadfastness in adversity.
