“I tell you plainly, to your face: these leaders will not follow you in this course—Jāmbavān, Nīla, the great monkey Suhotra, and even I. You cannot detach us from Sugrīva—whether by conciliation and gifts and the like, or even by coercion.”
'This I am telling you openly and frankly. These monkeys are not going to be obedient to you. Neither Jambavan, nor Nila nor the great monkey Suhotra nor even myself would subscribe to this opinion (of staying in the cave) and follow you. It is not possible for you to keep us or these monkeys from Sugriva through the policy of appeasement like Sama, Dana, Bheda or even Danda (persuasion, giving gifts, creating differences or imposing punishment).
Dharma here is loyalty to rightful leadership and truth-speaking counsel. Hanumān refuses unethical defection and states frankly that the group will not be separated from Sugrīva by manipulative political tactics.
In a tense moment where Angada’s stance could be read as breaking away from Sugrīva’s authority, Hanumān asserts the senior vānaras’ allegiance and rejects attempts to form a rival faction.
Satya (candor) and niṣṭhā (steadfast loyalty): Hanumān speaks directly and holds firm to the legitimate chain of command for the sake of the mission.
