स्वयम्प्रभा-विमोचनम् — Svayamprabha Leads the Vanaras Out (Time-Limit Crisis and Counsel)
ततस्ते ददृशुर्घोरं सागरं वरुणालयम्।अपारमभिगर्जन्तं घोरैरूर्मिभिरावृतम्।।।।
tatas te dadṛśur ghoraṃ sāgaraṃ varuṇālayam |
apāram abhigarjantaṃ ghorair ūrmibhir āvṛtam ||
Then they beheld the dreadful sea—the abode of Varuṇa—boundless, roaring, and covered with terrifying waves.
Then the monkeys saw the boundless, dreary ocean roaring wild with its terrific waves spread all over.
Dharma includes humility before the vast forces of nature and the divine order they represent; the ocean evokes awe that tempers pride.
Having been led out, the vānaras now see the immense ocean they must confront in their search for Sītā.
