स्वयंप्रभा-प्रश्नोत्तरम् / Svayamprabha Explains the Golden Forest and Questions the Vanaras

वनं विधाय बलवान्सर्वकामेश्वरस्तदा।।4.51.13।।उवास सुखितः कालं कञ्चिदस्मिन्महावने।

vanaṃ vidhāya balavān sarvakāmeśvaras tadā | uvāsa sukhitaḥ kālaṃ kañcid asmin mahāvane ||

Then that powerful one, a master of wish-fulfilment, fashioned this forest and dwelt here happily for some time in this great woodland.

Then the mighty Maya who received the power of (executing) desires created this mansion and lived here happily for some time in this dense forest.

Possessing wish-fulfilling power tests dharma: true righteousness requires restraint and right use of capability, not mere enjoyment.

Svayaṃprabhā narrates Maya’s period of residence after creating the wondrous forest.
