विन्ध्यगुहाविचयः — Searching the Vindhya Caves and the Cursed Forest (Southern Search)
न यत्रवृक्षा नौषध्यो न वल्ल्यो नापि वीरुधः।।।।स्निग्धपत्रास्स्थले यत्र पद्मिन्यः फुल्लपङ्कजाः।प्रेक्षणीयास्सुगन्धाश्च भ्रमरैश्चापिवर्जिताः।।।।
na yatra vṛkṣā na auṣadhyo na vallyo nāpi vīrudhaḥ || 4.48.10 ||
In that place there were no trees, no medicinal herbs, no creepers, and no vines at all.
There were no medicinal plants, no vines or creepers spreading on the ground.The lotus creepers on the dry ground had shining leaves,beautiful and fragrant blooms devoid of bees.
The verse implies a dharmic worldview where moral/spiritual events shape nature: a curse rooted in violated order can render a land barren, warning against actions that provoke righteous wrath.
While moving through the southern route, the search party encounters a desolate forest lacking ordinary vegetation.
Endurance and resolve: the search continues even through inhospitable terrain.
