Shloka 4.31.33
लक्ष्मणक्रोधः सुग्रीवप्रबोधनं च (Lakshmana’s Wrath and the Summoning of Sugriva)
एष रामानुजः प्राप्तस्वत्सकाशमरिन्दम।।भ्रातुर्व्यसनसन्तप्तो द्वारि तिष्ठति लक्ष्मणः।तस्य वाक्यं यदि रुचिः क्रियतां साधु वानर।।इत्युक्त्वा शीघ्रमागच्छ वत्स वाक्यमरिन्दम।
eṣa rāmānujaḥ prāptas tvatsakāśam arindama | bhrātur vyasana-santapto dvāri tiṣṭhati lakṣmaṇaḥ | tasya vākyaṃ yadi ruciḥ kriyatāṃ sādhu vānara | ity uktvā śīghram āgaccha vatsa vākyam arindama ||
“O subduer of enemies, say this: ‘Lakshmana, Rama’s younger brother, has come to you and stands at the gate, burning with grief over his brother’s distress. If you wish to hear his words, act rightly, O Vanara.’ Having said this, return quickly, dear one.”
'O subduer of enemies! speak in this way: 'Lakshmana, the dear younger brother of Rama has come to you and waits for your presence at the entrance, burning in grief of his elder brother. Well, if you like to hear his words, do as you please.' 'Return swiftly after saying so.'
Dharma is honoring commitments and responding promptly to rightful grievance; Sugriva is urged to receive Lakshmana respectfully and address the delayed duty toward Rama.
Lakshmana instructs Angada to inform Sugriva that he is at the gate, distressed for Rama, and requests an audience.
Lakshmana’s maryādā (proper conduct) even in anger—he follows protocol by sending a message rather than forcing entry.
