शरत्प्रवेशे रामविलापः तथा सुग्रीवप्रमादे लक्ष्मणप्रेषणम् (Autumn’s Onset: Rama’s Lament and Lakshmana Sent to Sugriva)
मदप्रगल्भेषु च वारणेषुगवां समूहेषु च दर्पितेषु।प्रसन्नतोयासु च निम्नगासुविभाति लक्ष्मीर्बहुधा विभक्ता।।
mada-pragalbheṣu ca vāraṇeṣu
gavāṃ samūheṣu ca darpiteṣu |
prasanna-toyāsu ca nimnagāsu
vibhāti lakṣmīr bahudhā vibhaktā ||
Beauty—like Lakṣmī herself, divided into many manifestations—shines in proud rutting elephants, in spirited herds of cattle, and in streams whose waters have become clear.
'Goddess Laxmi with her scattered self shines there among the proud elephants, among herds of excited bulls and among streams with clear water.
True śrī (prosperity/beauty) is not hoarded but ‘distributed’—dharma views abundance as something that appears across creation and should inspire gratitude and right conduct.
Rāma continues describing autumn’s splendour as visible in animals and clear waters, while the human task of keeping promises remains pending.
Reverence for order (ṛta): perceiving auspiciousness in nature while maintaining moral seriousness about obligations.
