In the Southern Recension, this verse is an expanded, cross-referential repetition of 4.26.23–28, listing the same coronation insignia and auspicious substances assembled for Sugrīva’s sacred anointing (abhiṣeka).
The monkeys brought a white canopy decorated with gold and two chamaras with glorious golden staff. They also brought jewels, all kinds of medicinal herbs, sprouts, sap from trees, white flowers and white clothes, unguents, garlands of fragrant lotuses that grow on land and water, heavently sandal, fragrants of different kinds, goldcoloured paddy, honey of priyanga, curds, tiger skin and sandals made of boar skin. Then sixteen beautiful, cheerful females appeared with unguent, gorochana mixed with red arsenic (used for putting tilaka on the forehead).
Textual preservation as dharma of tradition: the recensional repetition underscores the importance of transmitting ritual and royal norms accurately.
A reiterative block (with embedded verse numbering) restates the coronation materials and attendants connected with Sugrīva’s consecration.
Not character-centered here; the emphasis is on communal ritual completeness and the tradition’s careful documentation.
