महाभिषेकः — Sugriva’s Coronation and Angada’s Installation
ततः प्रकृतयस्सर्वा दृष्ट्वा हरिगणेश्वरम्।।प्रणम्य मूर्ध्ना पतिता वसुधायां समाहिताः।
tataḥ prakṛtayaḥ sarvā dṛṣṭvā harigaṇeśvaram | praṇamya mūrdhnā patitā vasudhāyāṁ samāhitāḥ ||
Then all the citizens, seeing the lord of the Vānara hosts, bowed with their foreheads to the earth and sat gathered together in composed attention.
Then all the subjects of the city collected together, prostrated to the chief of the monkey clan with their forehead touching the ground (as a mark of respect) and sat down.
Civic dharma: subjects honor rightful leadership through respectful conduct, sustaining social harmony.
The people of Kiṣkindhā formally receive Sugrīva with prostration and attentive assembly.
Sugrīva’s acknowledged legitimacy and the community’s orderly reverence.
