ताराविलापः (Tārā’s Lament over Vāli)
ऋक्षवानरमुख्यास्त्वां बलिनः पर्युपासते।एषां विलपितं कृच्छ्रमङ्गदस्य च शोचतः।।मम चेमा गिरः श्रुत्वा किं त्वं न प्रतिबुध्यसे।
ṛkṣa-vānara-mukhyās tvāṃ balinaḥ paryupāsate | eṣāṃ vilapitaṃ kṛcchram aṅgadasya ca śocataḥ || mama cemā giraḥ śrutvā kiṃ tvaṃ na pratibudhyase |
The powerful leaders of bears and monkeys stand close by you, lamenting in anguish; and Aṅgada too is weeping in grief. Hearing their cries—and these words of mine—why do you not rise, why do you not awaken?
'Oh powerful Vali! leaders of the bears and monkeys, the entire lot are standing near you, wailing. Angada has been crying in grief. How is it that you are not rising up even after hearing their wailing voices and my call? .
It emphasizes communal duty and loyalty: a leader’s fall brings collective sorrow, reminding that kingship/leadership carries responsibility toward dependents.
Tārā points to the grieving assembly—especially Aṅgada—and pleads with the fallen Vāli as if he might still respond.
The followers’ fidelity (bhakti/niṣṭhā) and Aṅgada’s filial devotion are foregrounded.
