Shloka 4.10.30

सुग्रीवस्य वैरानुकथनम् (Sugriva’s Account of Enmity and Appeal to Rama)

वालिनस्तु भयार्तस्य सर्वलोकभयङ्कर।कर्तुमर्हसि मे वीर प्रसादं तस्य निग्रहात्।।

vālinas tu bhayārtasya sarvalokabhayaṅkara | kartum arhasi me vīra prasādaṃ tasya nigrahāt ||

But I am tormented by fear of Vālī. O hero who can strike fear into all the worlds, grant me your favor by restraining him.

'O great warrior! you are one who can frighten the entire world! Due to the fear of Vali I seek your grace.You may resist Vali and provide me security.'

Dharma includes protecting the afflicted and restraining wrongdoers; righteous strength is meant to remove fear from the innocent.

Sugrīva formally petitions Rāma for protection and intervention against Vālī.

Rāma’s protective righteousness (rakṣā-dharma): power aligned with justice rather than domination.
