पम्पा-तीर-वर्णनम् / Rama’s Lament at Pampa and the Approach to Rishyamuka

अमी हि विविधैः पुष्पैस्तरवो रुचिरच्छदाः।काननेऽऽस्मिन्विना कान्तां चिन्तामुत्पादयन्ति मे।।।।

amī hi vividhaiḥ puṣpais taravo ruciracchadāḥ |

kānane ’smin vinā kāntāṃ cintām utpādayanti me ||

These trees, lovely with their foliage and varied flowers, in this forest—without my beloved—only give rise to anxiety within me.

'These trees with their beautiful leaves and varieties of flowers bring me agony as I live in this forest separated from my beloved.

Sītā

Lakṣmaṇa

Satya (truthfulness) about suffering: Rāma does not mask grief; he names it clearly, while still walking the path of dharma—seeking what is rightfully his and rescuing Sītā.

Amid spring’s beauty, Rāma confides to Lakṣmaṇa that the very sights meant to delight instead intensify his distress due to separation from Sītā.

Integrity of feeling and steadfastness—he endures pain without abandoning righteous action.
