पम्पा-तीर-वर्णनम् / Rama’s Lament at Pampa and the Approach to Rishyamuka
केचित्पर्याप्तकुसुमाः पादपा मधुगन्धिनः।केचिन्मुकुलसंवीताः श्यामवर्णा इवाबभुः।।।।
idaṃ mṛṣṭam idaṃ svādu praphullam idam ity api |
rāgayukto madhukaraḥ kusumeṣv eva līyate ||
“This is tender; this is sweet; this is fully in bloom”—as if murmuring so, the bee, stirred by delight, clings only to the flowers and melts into them.
'Some trees stood fragrant with profuse flowers and some with buds shining blue.
The verse implicitly warns about rāga (attachment). Dharma requires mastery over attraction; the bee becomes a natural metaphor for a mind that fixates on sweetness, while a dhārmic person practices restraint and right focus.
Rāma observes bees moving among spring flowers near Pampā and expresses the scene in a vivid, almost conversational image.
Moral insight through observation: Rāma reads human psychology (attachment) in natural behavior.
