पम्पा-तीर-वर्णनम् / Rama’s Lament at Pampa and the Approach to Rishyamuka

यानि स्म रमणीयानि तया सह भवन्ति मे।तान्येवारमणीयानि जायन्ते मे तया विना।।।।

yāni sma ramaṇīyāni tayā saha bhavanti me | tāny evāramaṇīyāni jāyante me tayā vinā ||

Whatever was once delightful to me in her company—those very things become undelightful to me without her.

'Whatever was endearing to me earlier in the company of Sita, has turned out to be disenchanting without her.

R
Rāma
L
Lakṣmaṇa
S
Sītā (implied by tayā: “with her”)

It teaches emotional truth (satya) without moral collapse: grief can transform perception, yet dharma asks one to recognize this change honestly and still proceed with righteous duty.

Rāma articulates how separation from Sītā alters the very experience of the beautiful Pampā landscape during their search.

Integrity of feeling—Rāma does not pretend detachment; his transparent sorrow coexists with continued commitment to the rescue.
