पम्पा-तीर-वर्णनम् / Rama’s Lament at Pampa and the Approach to Rishyamuka

एष वै तत्र वैदेह्या विहगः प्रतिहारकः।पक्षी मां तु विशालाक्ष्यास्समीपमुपनेष्यति।।।।

eṣa vai tatra vaidehyā vihagaḥ pratihārakaḥ | pakṣī māṃ tu viśālākṣyāḥ samīpam upaneṣyati ||

This very bird there is as it were Vaidehī’s attendant; it will lead me near that large-eyed one.

'The same crow attendant on Vaidehi there will take me to my large-eyed beloved.

R
Rama
S
Sita (Vaidehi, Viśālākṣī)
B
Bird (Vihaga)

Hope aligned with dharma: Rama’s longing does not become despair; he frames hope of reunion as something nature itself seems to assist, supporting perseverance in righteous effort.

Interpreting the bird’s behavior auspiciously, Rama imagines it as a guide toward Sita.

Āśā (constructive hope) and resolve—maintaining forward movement toward the rightful goal of recovering Sita.
