“Steady yourself, Rama—may well-being be yours. Do not grieve, O best of men; for those who are pure in heart, a weak and sinking resolve does not befit.”

'O Rama, the foremost of men, control yourself. Be blessed. People who are pure at heart do not feel depressed at heart.

Dharma requires inner steadiness: grief must not overthrow one’s capacity to act rightly, especially for the pure-minded who bear responsibility for others.

Lakshmana intervenes as Rama mourns, urging him to regain composure so the search for Sita can proceed.

Fortitude (dhairya) and self-control (saṃyama) as marks of the noble and pure-hearted.
