After reflecting, they said they would propose suitable means for that purpose: “We shall bring the brahmin sage, and no blame shall attach to us.”

After thinking about the means to be employed to bring the rishi to the court, they told him they would bring the sage if they are not to blame (in case anything untowardhappens).

Dharma is concern for doṣa (moral fault): they seek a method that achieves the aim without ethical transgression, stressing right means along with right ends.

The emissaries negotiate conditions: they will proceed only after identifying a safe and acceptable strategy that avoids culpability.

Conscientiousness: they explicitly consider accountability and the ethics of method.
