जामदग्न्य-रामसंवादः — Parashurama Confronts Rama with the Vaishnava Bow

मम सर्वविनाशाय सम्प्राप्तस्त्वं महामुने।न चैकस्मिन् हते रामे सर्वे जीवामहे वयम् ।।।।

mama sarvavināśāya samprāptas tvaṃ mahāmune | na caikasmin hate rāme sarve jīvāmahe vayam |||

O great sage, you have come as though for the utter ruin of my house; for if Rāma alone is slain, none of us will remain alive.

O Great ascetic! today you have arrived evidently for the total destruction of our family.If Rama is killed none of us will survive".

The king’s dharma is protection of lineage and subjects: Daśaratha pleads to prevent disproportionate harm that would destroy an entire family for the fall of one.

Daśaratha, terrified by the impending duel, warns that Rāma’s death would mean the collapse of the whole family’s survival.
