जामदग्न्य-रामसंवादः — Parashurama Confronts Rama with the Vaishnava Bow
तदद्भुतमचिन्त्यं च भेदनं धनुषस्त्वया।तच्छ्रुत्वाऽहमनुप्राप्तो धनुर्गृह्यापरं शुभम्।।।।
tad adbhutam acintyaṃ ca bhedanaṃ dhanuṣas tvayā |
tac chrutvā 'ham anuprāpto dhanur gṛhya aparaṃ śubham ||
Your breaking of the bow is wondrous and beyond imagining. Hearing of it, I have come here, bringing another auspicious bow.
The fact that you have broken Siva's bow is an astonishing act. It is beyond imagination. Having heard it I have come here with another auspicious bow.
Dharma warns against pride arising from prowess: extraordinary deeds invite scrutiny, and the righteous must meet tests without arrogance.
Paraśurāma arrives after hearing that Rāma broke Śiva’s bow and announces he has brought another bow, setting up a trial of strength and composure.
Composure under challenge: Rāma is being drawn into a test where restraint and steadiness matter as much as strength.
