वैवाहिकसंबन्ध-निश्चयः / Fixing the Mithila–Ayodhya Marital Alliance

सदृशो धर्मसम्बन्ध: सदृशो रूपसम्पदा।रामलक्ष्मणयो राजन् सीता चोर्मिलया सह।।।।

sadṛśo dharmasambandhaḥ sadṛśo rūpasampadā | rāmalakṣmaṇayo rājan sītā cormilayā saha ||

O King, the marital alliance is fitting in dharma, and equally fitting in beauty and excellence—Sītā for Rāma, and with them Ūrmilā for Lakṣmaṇa.

O King! it is a perfect match between Sita and Rama and Urmila and Lakshmana. In respect of piety and beauty the match is perfect.

Marriage is framed as a dharmic bond (dharmasambandha), not merely personal preference—suitability is measured by righteousness and character as well as outward excellence.

During the marriage arrangements at Mithilā, the match between the princes of Ayodhyā and the princesses of Videha is affirmed as appropriate.

Maryādā (propriety) in forming alliances: careful matching according to dharma and worthy qualities.
