शुनश्शेफरक्षा–विश्वामित्रशापः (Sunassepha’s Rescue and Visvamitra’s Curse)
तेषां तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा पुत्राणां मुनिपुङ्गव:।क्रोधसंरक्तनयनो व्याहर्तुमुपचक्रमे।।।।
teṣāṃ tad-vacanaṃ śrutvā putrāṇāṃ muni-puṅgavaḥ | krodha-saṃrakta-nayano vyāhartum upacakrame ||
Hearing those words of his sons, the eminent sage—his eyes reddened with anger—began to reply.
On hearing the words of his sons Viswamitra, the eminent ascetic, eyes reddened with anger began to speak:
It signals the seriousness of dharmic transgression: disrespecting a guru/father’s righteous resolve provokes moral and spiritual consequence.
After his sons object, Viśvāmitra reacts strongly and prepares to speak in response.
The verse highlights ascetic authority and resolve, while also warning about anger’s presence even in powerful sages.
