Shloka 1.46.10
दितितपः-शक्रपरिचर्या-गर्भभेदः (Diti’s Penance, Indra’s Service, and the Severing of the Embryo)
अग्निं कुशान् काष्ठमप: फलं मूलं तथैव च।न्यवेदयत्सहस्राक्षो यच्चान्यदपि काङ्क्षितम्।।1.46.10।।
agniṁ kuśān kāṣṭham apaḥ phalaṁ mūlaṁ tathaiva ca | nyavedayat sahasrākṣo yac cānyad api kāṅkṣitam ||1.46.10||
Indra of the thousand eyes supplied her with fire, kuśa grass, fuel-wood, water, fruits, and roots—and whatever else she desired.
The thousand-eyed Indra served her by providing fire, Kusha grass, sticks for burning,water, fruits, roots and all other things desired by her.
Dharma is portrayed as attentive service that supports another’s vowed practice (tapas). Even a powerful king of gods is shown performing humble duties, aligning power with responsibility.
During Diti’s long austerity, Indra attends her needs by providing the basic requisites for ritual life and sustenance.
Service and diligence—Indra’s continuous provision of necessities reflects disciplined caretaking.
