गङ्गावतरण-प्रार्थना (Bhagīratha’s Petition for the Descent of Gaṅgā)
तस्मिन् राज्यं समावेश्य दिलीपे रघुनन्दन।हिमवच्छिखरे पुण्ये तपस्तेपे सुदारुणम्।।1.42.3।।
tam evam uktvā rājānaṁ gaṅgāṁ cābhāṣya lokakṛt | jagāma tridivaṁ devas saha devair marudgaṇaiḥ ||1.42.25||
Having spoken thus to the king, and also addressing Gaṅgā, the Creator of the worlds departed for heaven, accompanied by the gods and the hosts of the Maruts.
O Delight of the Raghus! having vested the kingdom with Dilipa, Anshuman performed rigid penance on the sacred peak of the Himavat mountain.
Dharma proceeds through ordered delegation: once guidance is given, the seeker must act—divine help supports effort but does not replace it.
Brahmā concludes his counsel to Bhagīratha (and Gaṅgā) and returns to heaven with the gods and Maruts, ending the sarga’s divine audience.
Resolve in action—Bhagīratha must now approach Śiva, showing disciplined follow-through after receiving instruction.
