Shloka 1.38.22

सगरस्य पुत्रलाभः — Sagara’s Boons, Progeny, and the Rise of the Sixty Thousand

तस्य पुत्रोंऽशुमान्नाम असमञ्जस्य वीर्यवान्।।।।सम्मत स्सर्वलोकस्य सर्वस्यापि प्रियंवद:।

tasya putro ’ṃśumān nāma asamañjasya vīryavān | sammataḥ sarvalokasya sarvasyāpi priyaṃvadaḥ ||

His son was named Aṁśumān—valiant and mighty, esteemed by all people, and gracious in speech to everyone.

Asamanjasa's son was Anshuman. He was valiant, beloved and courteous to every one in the world.

Dharma is reflected in character, not merely birth: even from a flawed parent can arise a virtuous person, marked by social approval, courage, and truthful-beneficial speech.

After describing Asamañjasa’s downfall, the narrative introduces his son Aṁśumān as a moral contrast and future agent in the lineage’s story.
