Shloka 1.37.16

कुमारसम्भवः—गङ्गायां तेजोनिक्षेपः (The Birth of Kumāra/Skanda and the Deposition of Śiva’s Energy through Gaṅgā)

अथाब्रवीदिदं गङ्गां सर्वदेवहुताशन:।इह हैमवती पादे गर्भोऽयं सन्निवेश्यताम्।।1.37.16।।

athābravīd idaṃ gaṅgāṃ sarvadevahutāśanaḥ | iha haimavatī pāde garbho 'yaṃ sanniveśyatām ||

Then the Fire-god, receiver of offerings for all the gods, said to Gaṅgā: “Here, upon the slopes at the foot of Himavat, let this embryo be placed.”

Thereafter the Fire-god who is the partaker of oblations offered to all deities said to Ganga 'Place this embryo on this slope of Mountain Himavan'.

Dharma includes choosing the proper place and conditions (deśa-kāla) for a powerful charge; life and power are protected by being settled where they can be safely sustained.

Since Gaṅgā cannot bear the potency, Agni proposes relocating the embryo to the slopes of Himavat.

Practical compassion and wise guidance: Agni offers a concrete remedy that reduces suffering while fulfilling the divine purpose.
