गङ्गाजन्मवर्णनम् / The Origin of the Ganga (Tripathagā Narrative)

सुप्रभाता निशा राम पूर्वा सन्ध्या प्रवर्तते।उत्तिष्ठोत्तिष्ठ भद्रं ते गमनायाभिरोचय ।।1.35.2।।

ayaṃ śoṇaḥ śubhajalo 'gādhaḥ pulinamaṇḍitaḥ |

katareṇa pathā brahman santariṣyāmahe vayam || 1.35.4 ||

O knower of Brahman, this Śoṇa river bears auspicious waters, is deep, and is adorned with sandbanks. By which route shall we cross it?

"Rama, the night makes way for the dawn. It is time for morning rituals. Arise, arise! May the day bring good news! Get ready for the onward journey".

Dharma as humility and right counsel: even the capable seek proper guidance from elders/teachers before acting.

During the journey, the party reaches the deep Śoṇa river; Rāma asks Viśvāmitra for the appropriate crossing route.
