गङ्गाजन्मवर्णनम् / The Origin of the Ganga (Tripathagā Narrative)
शैलेन्द्रो हिमवान्नाम धातूनामाकरो महान्।तस्य कन्याद्वयं राम रूपेणाप्रतिमं भुवि।।1.35.14।।
yā meruduhitā rāma tayor mātā sumadhyamā | nāmnā manoramā nāma patnī himavataḥ priyā ||
“O Rāma, their mother—slender-waisted—was the daughter of Meru, the beloved wife of Himavān, renowned by the name Manoramā.”
"O Rama! the great mountain named Himavan is a treasure-trove of ores. He is the king of mountains. He had two daughters, unrivalled in beauty in this world.
Dharma is reinforced through honoring origins and relationships: the narrative treats lineage as meaningful, grounding sacred phenomena in a web of duties and rightful connections.
Viśvāmitra identifies the mother of Himavān’s two daughters as Manoramā, daughter of Meru.
