कुशिकवंश-प्रसङ्गः / Genealogy of the Kuśika Line and the Kausikī River
एवमुक्त्वा कुशो राम कुशनाभं महीपतिम्।जगामाकाशमाविश्य ब्रह्मलोकं सनातनाम्।।।।
saśarīrā gatā svargaṃ bhartāram anuvartinī |
kauśikī paramodārā pravṛttā ca mahānadī ||
Following her husband, she went to heaven in her very body; and then, as the great river Kauśikī—most generous in her beneficence—she began to flow.
"O Rama! so saying to king Kusanabha, Kusa left through space for the eternal Brahmaloka".
It highlights pativratā-dharma (devoted fidelity to one’s spouse) and the transformation of personal virtue into public good, symbolized by becoming a beneficent sacred river.
Viśvāmitra explains how his sister, after following her husband to heaven, manifests as the great river Kauśikī.
