Rāma, mighty-armed one: since you asked me, I have recounted my origin, the account of my lineage, and also the history of this region.
O son of the Kakusthas! while telling my stories, midnight has passed by. Go to sleep now. Prosperity to you. Let there be no obstacles on our way.
Truthful transmission of tradition (itihāsa) in response to sincere inquiry is presented as dharma—knowledge is shared responsibly when sought rightly.
Viśvāmitra concludes his explanatory narration, stating he has answered Rāma’s questions about his origins, lineage, and the place.
Rāma’s respectful inquiry and Viśvāmitra’s truthful, orderly instruction.
