कुशनाभकन्याशतविवाहः — The Marriage of Kuśanābha’s Hundred Daughters (and the Birth of Brahmadatta)
तमाहूय महातेजा ब्रह्मदत्तं महीपति:। ददौ कन्याशतं राजा सुप्रीतेनान्तरात्मना।।1.33.21।।
tam āhūya mahātejā brahmadattaṁ mahīpatiḥ |
dadau kanyāśataṁ rājā suprītenāntarātmanā ||1.33.21||
Summoning Brahmadatta, that mighty lord of the earth gladly gave him the hundred maidens, with a heart filled with joy.
The lord of the earth, highly powerful king Kusanabha invited Brahmadatta, and gave his hundred daughters in marriage to him with a heart highly pleased.
Dharma is expressed through rightful giving (dāna) and proper marital arrangement—acts performed with goodwill, not coercion.
Kūśanābha formally invites Brahmadatta and offers his hundred daughters in marriage.
The king’s generosity and auspicious intent—acting from a ‘suprīta’ (fully pleased) heart.
