सिद्धाश्रम-यज्ञरक्षणम् — Protection of Viśvāmitra’s Sacrifice at Siddhāśrama
आवार्य गगनं मेघो यथा प्रावृषि निर्गत:।तथामायां विकुर्वाणौ राक्षसावभ्यधावताम्।।।।
āvārya gaganaṃ megho yathā prāvṛṣi nirgataḥ |
tathā māyāṃ vikurvāṇau rākṣasāv abhyadhāvatām ||
As clouds in the rainy season spread out and cover the sky, so the two rākṣasas, conjuring deceptive māyā, came rushing forward.
Like the clouds in the rainy season, the two rakshasas (Maricha and Subahu), covering the sky through their power of illusion, came running (to the sacrificial place).
Adharma often operates through māyā (deception) to obstruct dharma; recognizing and resisting such disruption is implied as righteous duty.
Mārīca and Subāhu approach to sabotage Viśvāmitra’s sacrifice, using illusion to overwhelm and intimidate.
The implied virtue is vigilant discernment and protective courage in defense of sacred action (yajña-rakṣaṇa).
