बालकाण्डे एकविंशः सर्गः — Daśaratha’s Promise, Vasiṣṭha’s Counsel, and Viśvāmitra’s Weapon-Lore
जया च सुप्रभा चैव दक्षकन्ये सुमध्यमे।ते सुवातेऽस्त्रशस्त्राणि शतं परमभास्वरम्।।।।
jayā ca suprabhā caiva dakṣa-kanye sumadhyame | te suvāte ’stra-śastrāṇi śataṃ parama-bhāsvaram ||
Jaya and Suprabhā—two slender-waisted daughters of Dakṣa—brought forth a hundred astras and śastras, supremely radiant.
Jaya and Suprabha of slender waists are the two daughters of Daksha. They gave birth to one hundred effulgent sons known as astras and shastras.
The verse frames weapons as part of a sacred order and lineage; dharma implies that such brilliance and power must be governed by restraint and rightful purpose.
A mythic genealogy is introduced to explain the emergence and classification of weapon-powers associated with Viśvāmitra’s tradition.
Not a personal virtue, but the idea of ordered transmission—power arising within a structured cosmic and dharmic framework.
