पुत्रजन्मोत्सवः — Birth of the Princes and Viśvāmitra’s Arrival (Bālakāṇḍa 18)
एवं विसृज्य तान्सर्वान्राजा सम्पूर्णमानस:।उवास सुखितस्तत्र पुत्रोत्पत्तिं विचिन्तयन्।।।।
evaṃ visṛjya tān sarvān rājā sampūrṇa-mānasaḥ |
uvāsa sukhitas tatra putrotpattiṃ vicintayan ||
Thus, after sending them all off, the king—his mind now at ease—remained there happily, reflecting upon the hope of begetting sons.
When they (guests) all departed in this manner, Dasaratha with his desire fulfilled, his thought centred on begetting sons lived happily.
The verse reflects disciplined kingship: after completing duties toward guests and rites, the ruler turns inward with restraint and right intention, seeking legitimate progeny through dharmic means.
After the honoured guests depart, Daśaratha remains content and begins thinking about the long-awaited birth of sons.
Composure and purposeful reflection—Daśaratha’s steadiness after duty is done.
