अश्वमेधप्रवृत्तिः — Commencement and Performance of Daśaratha’s Aśvamedha
न चाहुतमभूत्तत्र स्खलितं वापि किञ्चन ।दृश्यते ब्रह्मवत्सर्वं क्षेमयुक्तं हि चक्रिरे।।।।
na cāhutam abhūt tatra skhalitaṃ vāpi kiñcana | dṛśyate brahmavat sarvaṃ kṣema-yuktaṃ hi cakrire ||
In that sacrifice there was no omission in the offerings, nor any error whatsoever; everything appeared fully supported by proper mantras, and indeed they carried it out safely and flawlessly.
There were no omissions in the offerings nor any lappes in the performance. Everything was done through recitation of mantras and in a wholesome way.
Dharma here is precision and sincerity in sacred responsibility: when duty is performed with mantra, method, and care, it becomes “kṣema”—beneficial and non-injurious.
